Alex Rodriguez may have left the batter’s box, but he’s still swinging for the fences—this time in life. Whether it’s making big business moves or sharing heartwarming moments with his daughters, A-Rod is living his retirement to the fullest.

Yet, for someone with his resume, it’s surprising that MLB hasn’t tapped into his wealth of experience. While former players transition into coaching and front-office roles, Rodriguez remains on the sidelines. The question is: why? Even though he was involved in a biogenesis scandal in the past, can’t he be used in any capacity?

Rodriguez has never shied away from sharing glimpses of his bond with his daughters, and these days, his biggest role is that of a devoted father. Just last December, he surprised his eldest daughter, Natasha, at the airport when she returned home for winter break—a touching moment that melted fans’ hearts. His split from Cynthia Scurtis hasn’t kept him from being actively involved in his daughters’ lives, and his recent Instagram posts prove just that.

Rodriguez’s recent Instagram story captured a special and candid moment with his youngest daughter Ella, having a fun lunchtime. His caption, “Father-daughter lunch with Ella,” says it all. Long gone are his scandalous early 2000s; Rodriguez is now a perfect family man, to say the least. For those who are unaware, he admitted to using steroids from 2001 to 2003 while playing for the Rangers. Also in 2013, Rodriguez was suspended for 211 games for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. That’s the baggage keeping him from a Hall of Fame nod, no matter how legendary his career was. But if baseball could welcome back figures like Barry Bonds as a hitting coach and Sammy Sosa the Cubs’ Hall of Fame induction, why not A-Rod? And now, what’s ahead of him?

It’s no crime to live a happy life away from this limelight, but not leveraging someone worthy like Rodriguez is something to lose for the MLB circuit. Yes, with having 696 HRs and 2086 RBIs in his 22 years of career, Alex Rodriguez deserves all the opportunities with MLB. How? Managerial role with any team, and Rodriguez seems to be the perfect choice for this considering his brief stint as a special instructor and advisor with the Yankees. His experiences with high-leverage situations and facing difficult opponents are still worthy to be shared with the younger blood.

Well, Rodriguez is not sitting idle. He is all involved with this business empire and has even done a brief television stint. Currently, Rodriguez is more known for his business avatar, and it was also rumored about his intention to buy an MLB team, which stayed as a rumor only. It seems that Alex Rodriguez’s success with business caused him to not try his luck on-field anymore, but miracles do happen! Fans can only hope that their favorite A-Rod makes a comeback in any role and lets the next generation take his flamboyance.

Till the time he is making a comeback, let’s hope that Rodriguez will stay as lively as he is and make the most out of his retired life.
