What little hope there was has been lost. The New York Yankees were already lagging on their All-Star selections this year, but they’ve received more bad news. Gerrit Cole represents the pinstripes alone after Aaron Judge‘s latest announcement. However, on a pleasant note, two iconic Yankees are also making an appearance in Seattle.

The current Bronx captain has been out of action since a toe injury sustained at Dodger Stadium sidelined him at the beginning of June. Now, the Texas Rangers’ Adolis Garcia will play in his stead. Meanwhile, frenemies Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter are joining the melee.

It’s been close to a month and a half since baseball fans last saw the outfielder on the diamond. Disappointing injury updates prevail, and while some sources tried to say that All-Rise would be back by July 11th, fans knew better. Now, Aaron Judge has confirmed the worst.

On social media, he revealed that he is officially pulling out of the game. After thanking fans for selecting him in the first place, Judge wrote, “It is an honor to be among those names. Unfortunately, I will not be making the trip to Seattle. I plan to take this time to heal and rehab, so I can get back on the field for my team and all of you.”

Gerrit Cole will be the lone Pinstriped player at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park this year, playing his 6th consecutive All-Star game, 3rd as a Yankee. He previously represented AL West’s Houston Astros in 2018 and ’19 and the NL’s Pittsburgh Pirates in 2015. However, in some good news, joining their Bronx brother from the announcer’s box will be A-Rod and Captain Clutch.

New York Yankees legends Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez arrive in Seattle

While Rodriguez has long been a fixture on FOX Sports as an MLB analyst, Jeter is still a rookie. He has an undeniable charm when he talks and has all the tools for his craft. But translating that passion for baseball into storytelling as a host involves unique skills that the Hall of Famer is still honing.
