Major League Baseball decided to make some changes in the playoffs this year. The wild card series is already over, and the division series is starting today. After 11 years of not being able to partake in the playoffs, NL’s team, Philadelphia Phillies, has finally made it to the National League Division Series.

After winning over the St. Louis Cardinals in two games, the Phillies have made it to NLDS to fight off against Atlanta Braves today. Major credit for this happening goes to their manager, Rob Thomson.?

Thomson got named as the bench coach of the Phillies four years ago. He became the interim manager this year after Joe Girardi got laid off.?

The Phillies put on a tremendous performance this year and got into the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Because of this, Thomson became the permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. Naturally, people came in to congratulate him for the same.?

For now, Thomson has signed a two-year contract for the upcoming two MLB seasons. Till June, the Phillies have won only 22 games while they lost out on 29. This was the time when Rob Thomson became the interim manager replacing Joe Girardi.?

Out of the many people coming to congratulate Thomson for this achievement, former baseball player Alex Rodriguez is one of them. The athlete took to his Instagram story to congratulate the former minor league player of the Detroit Tiger. He wrote,?“Couldn’t be happier for Rob Thomson on his 2-year extension.”

Under Thomson’s mentorship, the team went on to have 65 wins in their corner. That took their position to be third in NL east after the Braves and Mets.

It was not the best position, but they still managed to clinch a playoff berth and now are on their way to fighting the winners of the National League East Division. With all this, Thomson also became the first ever Canadian-born manager to lead his team into the playoffs. As per the reports, Thomson is pretty proud of the bunch of players, coaches, and staff that have made this possible.?
