Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter’s Multi-Million Net Worths Brings a Harsh MLB Reality to Light Despite Falling Far Behind Other Athletes

Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez are two of the most loved baseball players ever. They were both fiercely competitive and established themselves as superstars of the game. Jeter and Rodriguez are both signed as analysts for Fox Sports. A-Rod will appear throughout the season, whereas Jeter will only appear for select special games and the postseason.

Being a top athlete and star means that you make big money. Sportico recently released a list of the 50 highest-earning athletes of all time, adjusting the amount to fit today’s valuation. In shocking news, only two baseball players have made the top 50. These are none other than Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. This is despite the two having retired in 2014 and 2016, respectively. Sportico specifically pointed out the fact via Twitter.

In a Tweet replying to a baseball fan’s question, Sportico said, “No and the highest earning baseball player on the list is @AROD at 20th with $745M Inflation adjusted earnings. He and @derekjeter are the only two baseball players in the top 50.” This is truly shocking news considering the amount of money that players today are earning.

But it is no surprise that A-Rod and Jeter are the two stars to have made this list. During their playing days, they each earned some of the highest salaries in MLB. Furthermore, they have been smart with that money and re-invested it in different ventures.

Since retiring, both Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter have followed similar paths. They both got into team ownership, Rodriguez with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Jeter with the Miami Marlins. But after Jeter sold his stake in the MLB team, he moved on to other ventures. The two have both invested in a diverse variety of business opportunities over the years.
