It seems that the Astros are now all about Alex Bregman! Every day, the fans are getting a new update about landing Bregman and their GM Dana Brown has been getting flooded with the same questions in the last few days. Well, this time, Brown has offered some concrete statement about their conversation with Bregman and if there is any chance of landing him. With Bregman still available as a free agent, Brown’s comment indicates how they are giving it one last try to get him. 

But is there still a possibility of getting Bregman? Probability is there considering Bregman hasn’t signed with any team and his high asking price is something keeping the teams at bay. So yes, the constant conversation between Bregman and the Astros and offering him a 3B position is what keeps the Astros fans hopeful about his potential return. However, it would be better for the fans to take a chill pill for Bregman’s return considering it might not happen. 

The Astros are giving it one last try

Yes, it’s all about the Astros giving it one last try to get Bregman. It was expected that after rejecting the $156 million offer from the Astros, Bregman is just waiting to find a new home, but that didn’t happen as of now. So, considering the situation that Bregman is still waiting for a deal, the Astros got into the pursuit. Will the Astros now offer a better deal to Alex Bregman? No concrete information as of now regarding that and the team is just looking to get Bregman with the same offer if possible. 

“The interesting thing is when we made some trades and some moves this offseason, we never realized that Bregman would still be on the market at this time”, said Brown on asking about getting behind him again. This indicates that there were no prior plans for the Astros to get behind Bregman for the second time and it is just that he is still available, so why not try again? By saying that the Astros are finally able to “crack” open the door,it can be safely said that they have again initiated talks with Bregman. If everything goes right, they can land him. 

Well, the Astros have kept the door open for Bregman without any changes in offers and just that they are offering 3B to him, which any other contending teams haven’t offered yet. Altuve’s decision to move to 1B to accommodate Bregman is making him rethink about joining the Astros. However, with a significant amount being paid to Pederes and Walker, it will create payroll challenges for the Astros and, as per Brown, they are prepared to take the challenge considering someone like Bregman is coming. 

It’s all on Bregman now

The comments by Brown are enough to indicate that the Astros are trying their best to land Bregman, but now the ball is on his court to take the final call. For now, the Red Sox are the leading contender in getting Alex Bregman, even though the exact amount offered is not known. But, they are offering 2B to Bregman, which is not the place he has played all these years. This is one area where the Astros are ahead, offering the staple 3B to Bregman. Now, Bregman has all offers on the table and it seems there is nothing more the Astros can do other than wait for him to take a call. 

The Astros fans waiting to see Bregman coming back need to wait a bit longer and need not be very sure about it. It is just that the Astros have finally been able to get into contention and nothing more. Yes, the proposition offered by the Astros, although attractive, can still get rejected considering Bregman is getting a higher amount from a different team. So, time is the only thing needed here for both the team and Bregman to get into more discussion and find a mid-way. 

Getting back Bregman, who was part of some of the historical moments of the Astros, is worth taking payroll challenges. Nevertheless, the Astros are ready to field a contending team this year with or without Alex Bregman and with spring season about to start, fans need to wait a few more times to get the confirmation.
