Reportedly, the Red Sox is going to sign Bregman with a nine-figure deal, much higher than the $156 million being offered by his home team Astros. Among all the teams, the Blue Jays and the Tigers have been the other two teams majorly linked with Bregman. However, with the Blue Jays going with Santander, it seems they are away from the Bregman sweepstakes and discussion with the Tigers is at a standstill. So, with each team backing out, the Red Sox coming ahead is an automatic choice. But should they?

I think the Red Sox are the best fit for Alex Bregman”, said MLB analyst Jon Heyman and it perfectly sums up the current situation between both the parties. How? Bregman ended the 2024 season with a .260 bat and 26 HRs and got the Golden Glove from 3B. Now, there is no doubt about the credibility of Alex Bregman and it’s only about how he will fit into the Red Sox’s lineup. Well, Bregman is flexible in playing in 2B, which makes the Red Sox go with Bregman and Devers at 2B and 3B respectively. Sweet deal indeed!

Also, Bregman’s connection with the Red Sox manager Alex Cora since their Astros days is something the team can leverage. For the unversed, Cora has been very vocal about getting Bregman to the team considering he knows Bregman’s style of playing and can utilize him the best. So yes, the Red Sox and Bregman deal is just a matter of time considering the management is proactive here and no other teams are coming in between. Now, what are the Red Sox waiting for?

Taking to X, a Red Sox fan reacted, “That would require the Red Sox to spend money”. Yes, the main reason behind Bregman yet not signing with the Red Sox is that the team was not willing to offer what he was expecting. In that case, fans are still skeptical about where Alex Bregman will ultimately land but with the recent development, yes the Red Sox is well ahead in the contention. Reportedly, they have agreed to Bregman’s price and the deal is on.

Well, now it is time for the Red Sox to close the deal. Because Bregman is the best hitter available in free agency right now and is prone to poaching by others. Moreover, with Bregman being a Scott Boras client, connection with all teams is very much probable with expectations of maximizing the value. For the unversed, Scott Boras is famous, or rather infamous for getting outrageous deals for his clients. So, the time is ticking for the Red Sox.

Nevertheless, the stability and experience that will come with the 2x World Series champion is something the Red Sox would like to tap into. Also, fielding Devers and Bregman is something the Red Sox fans are also dreaming of keeping their eye on 2025 postseason.
