Alex Bregman, the Boston Red Sox’s newest star, is making headlines once again! The All-Star received one of the loudest cheers from the fans at Fenway Stadium on the opening day. The excitement surrounding his name can hardly be missed. Boston’s decision to sign him for a three-year contract turned many heads, and fans couldn’t wait to see Bregman donning a Red Sox jersey. But his excitement is on another level entirely. But what’s more hilarious is that Alex Cora is stressing out because of it!
Bregman crushed it at Fenway Park with his first at-bat, and things just got even more interesting. Red Sox manager spilled the beans about a super funny conversation he had with Bregman the night before. You might want to hold onto your seat because it’s pretty hilarious! As much as Boston was thrilled about the two-time All-Star’s addition to the team, Bregman’s excitement was off the charts. He was so eager to start that he probably didn’t see the time before arriving for the game. During an interview with NESN, Cora said, “He’s loving it… I texted him last night. Bro, don’t show up at 6 in the morning, please; we don’t need that.” While Cora’s comment added some humor to the situation, he couldn’t stop praising Bregman’s enthusiasm and dedication.

Cora revealed that Bregman’s focus isn’t on where he plays. It’s all about his determination and the way he trains and plays to help his team win the game. He continued, saying, “We saw it in spring training how seriously he took every game, every swing, and every rep. He will do the same thing here.” Cora also pointed out a difference between Fenway Park and the ballpark in Houston—the left-center gap—which might not favor Bregman.
Bregman isn’t the only new addition making waves in Boston. The team made several strong moves this offseason, one of which was signing Garrett Crochet. Since he’s already stepped into a leading role in their starter, Crochet started the opening day, pitching five innings, allowing two runs, and striking out four in the 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. And he’s coming off another dazzling performance at Fenway Park.
Though Bregman hasn’t done a lot of damage in the ballpark, he has been gradually adjusting to it, according to Cora. So what’s next?
Well, he’s getting a lot of praise from the fans and the skipper, and it looks like it’s going to carry on forever. Meanwhile, he has shown his potential in the first game itself. How?

Alex Bregman shines in his Red Sox debut
This offseason, the Red Sox were eagerly looking for a right-handed batter. In fact, when they brought in Bregman in a three-year, $120 million deal, they were faced with heavy backlash. Mainly because the third baseman they had—Rafael Devers—didn’t need a replacement. But the franchise felt it was the right decision, and so it happened. Things became worse when Bregman struggled to make an early offensive impact. But then, everyone saw what Cora had envisioned while bringing in Bregman. He smashed a two-run homer in the first inning, donning the Red Sox jersey. But that’s not all!

Bregman did it while facing Charlie Morton, against whom he had a .071 average (1-for-14). But that couldn’t stop him as he launched the 92.1 mph sinker approximately 397 feet over left field. The exit velocity was 103.8 mph, and that’s quite impressive. Bregman said, “He’s really tough at bat. And obviously I have so much respect for him; being his teammate, he’s a great dude and a really good competitor.” Bregman and Morton were former teammates who often faced each other at practice at-bats, and Bregman looks forward to continuing that competition.
