Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez Kept His Feelings for a Popular Singer Aside to Help Derek Jeter Find Love With “My Total Blessing”

Derek Jeter stayed a New York Yankees loyalist throughout the entirety of his MLB career. Defending as a shortstop, he became one of the greatest fielders in that position. During the 2001 MLB All-Star game, Jeter got introduced to singer and actress Joy Enriquez. The mutual acquaintance to have introduced the two was Jeter’s future teammate, the enigmatic Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez.

Interestingly, ‘A-Rod’ himself had a romantic interest in Enriquez. But Enriquez and Jeter formed a strong mutual liking upon their meeting. Speaking about the pair, ‘A-Rod’ once quoted, “Has my total blessing.”  Nonetheless, the Jeter-Enriquez pairing was short-lived, and they broke up after three years. 

The Captain’s life in the present day 

Retired from baseball in 2014, Jeter is now a happily settled family man. He is married to supermodel Hannah Davis (Jeter). The couple parent three daughters together. Jeter even had a docu-series made about him titled, ‘The Captain,’ which premiered on the ESPN network this year.
