The Baseball Hall of Fame is probably the ultimate goal and fairytale dream for any individual who plays professional baseball. Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez, despite having an extremely lucrative career in the ballpark, never made it to the Hall of Fame due to his PED usage. For years since then, A-Rod has spoken out in favor of the MLB considering players for the Hall of Fame, regardless of PED usage.

Similarly, in an interview from 2019 with ESPN, A-Rod talked about Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds not making it into the Hall of Fame. Markedly, A-Rod faced a season suspension in 2014 after violating the league’s PEDs policy. This incident marked the beginning of the souring reputation of the Yankee great.
What did A-Rod say about Clemens and Bonds not making the Hall of Fame
Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were both legends during their playing days. However, neither made it to the MLB Hall of Fame due to their PED controversies. When the ESPN panel asked A-Rod about the same, he said, “The greatest single pitcher I’ve ever seen in my life that I played with and against is Roger Clemens. And the same goes for Barry Bonds.”
A-Rod went on to add, “Both of these guys played into the mid-40s, they loved the game, they both had incredible work ethic. Obviously, we know the elephant in the room, but what I will tell you is, I’ve never seen a better hitter baseball player and I’ve never seen a better pitcher than those two.”
Finally, in a show of full support, A-Rod concluded by saying, “I like them both very much, they’re both friends and I’m in their corner.”
Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and his views on PED players in the Hall of Fame
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith asked A-Rod, “What is your feeling about those who have been associated with PED use in this era being omitted from the Hall of Fame? Do you think it should be automatic disqualification? Do you think it should be ignored?”

Considering A-Rod’s past, he has perpetually maintained a very strong opinion in favor of the induction of players associated with PEDs. Responding to Stephen’s question, he said, “You’re asking the wrong person. Of course, I want them to get in. Because that would mean that I have an opportunity to get in one day. Look, I pray every day that I get a chance to get in. The Hall of Fame is the ultimate place.”
