It’s not a good day for the players of the Texas Rangers. Game 3 witnessed 2 injuries within a brief span of time for the Rangers. First was the 39-year-old Max Scherzer who exited the mid-game owing to his back-stiffness, which means an apparent back injury. That said, another star player of the Lone Stars has taken a sudden leave of absence.

ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia suffers in Game 3 of the World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Monday night. As per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the 30-year-old outfielder “grabbed his oblique” as he made contact with the ball.

During his eighth-inning at-bat, from the bottom half of the frame, he was pulled out of the game. Currently, the gravity of his injury is unknown. And with Adolis Garcia out of the field now, Travis Jankowski, the 32-year-old outfielder, has replaced Garcia in right field. The Rangers are in the lead, despite the sudden injuries. Game 3 stands at a score of 1 – 3 as Arizona tries to catch up.

Adolis is a gem to the Lone Stars. With that, it is impossible to downplay Garcia’s significance thus far. He has already hit eight home runs in this postseason, and his slash line going into Game 3 of the World Series was an astounding.339/.391/.763. In Game 3, he had gone 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. But unfortunately, due to his injury, there is no update on whether he would appear in the upcoming games or not.

Garcia’s injury was the Rangers’ second significant setback on Monday. These unpromising events have turned out to be quite costly for Texas. Addressing his teammate’s injury, Marcus Simien said, “It’s tough. We’ll see what happens with both of those guys. Adolis has been the heart and soul of our team. Hopefully, it’s nothing too bad.”

Up Next For The Texas Rangers

Manager Bruce Bochy shared his thoughts on what’s next. He said that both Garcia and Scherzer have been under evaluation since the injury. He said, “[Garcia] will get some diagnostics done, see where he’s at. Left side tightness. We’re being optimistic there, but we’ll know more tomorrow“. Now what does this say about the future games for the Rangers’ World Series attempt?

This postseason, Garcia has been the team’s best hitter and has crucially played a part in keeping star players Corey Seager and Semien at the top of the lineup. If Garcia doesn’t make it back, Jankowski or Robbie Grossman would be the most likely replacement options.
