Derek Jeter, a five-time World Champion and former captain of the New York Yankees, has left an indelible mark on the game of baseball. His contributions to society, however, extend far beyond the diamond. In 1996, during his rookie season, Jeter and his father, Dr. Sanderson Charles Jeter, and young Derek, created the Turn 2 Foundation, with the primary goal of helping children turn away from drugs and alcohol.
Turn2Foundation’s Invitational, which is set to take place on May 11 to May 13, has a long and high-profile list of celebrities attending from the sporting world, and the glorious realm of entertainment. And a few hours back, Derek Jeter added even more prowess to this already sensational lineup.

What began as a simple idea has since evolved into a charitable organization that has raised millions of dollars and impacted countless lives. With the recent announcement of the Invitational, the Foundation’s commitment shows no signs of slowing down. A few hours back, Derek Jeter reshared a story uploaded by the official handle of Turn2Foundation inviting two baseball Hall of Famers – Reggie Jackson and Ken Griffey Jr.
Notably, Reggie Jackson made 14 All-Star appearances in his career, with five World Series Championships, while Ken Griffey Jr. never won a World Series ring but made 13 All-Star appearances.

In the same series of stories, Jeter also uploaded an invitation for NBA great and two-time champion J. R. Smith, and comedian Rob Riggle.
The event, which is set to take place in the Baha Mar resort, will house the likes of CC Sabathia, Jorge Posada, Rob Gronkowski, Tino Martinez, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Charles Oakley, Andruw Jones, and many other superstars.
What is Turn2Foundation’s mission?
The objective of Turn 2 is to encourage the youth to steer clear of drugs and alcohol and adopt a healthy way of living, hence the term “Turn 2.” Turn2Foundation aims to create opportunities that stimulate academic achievements, leadership skills, and constructive conduct. Today, Jeter’s foundation is primarily run by his sister Sharlee, who is the President and secretary. His father, Dr. Sanderson Charles Jeter, is the Vice Chairman, while his mother Dorothy Jeter is the Treasurer.
