Records have always been set to be broken. This year, the Phillies have taken charge. The latest display was on Monday night when the Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos created another record. He smashed five homers in a 3-game slan which was done nearly 45 years after Reggie Jackson had created the same.
Nick Castellanos Outperforms Reggie Jackson
Reggie, in 1977, had performed against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the World Series. But Castellanos was different for other reasons. He achieved wins in two different series and against two different teams, something Reggie had not done.

Nick performed around the frenzied crowd of nearly 50,000 people at Citizen’s Bank Park. The record helped the Phillies to build an early lead of 4-0 in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Eventually, he took his team to a win. The Phillies are now a mere three wins away from making it to the World Series, for the first time since 2008. That year, they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays.
He has now joined the list of ‘Mr October.’ Castellanos had hit the first two homers in Game 3 of the NLDS, followed by two more in a game against the Braves. The Phillies had won that too.
This is Castellanos’ best performance ever, and the best year for him in his career, of all his postseason performances. His manager, his teammates, and his fans have the same belief.
“His confidence just beams and radiates through the whole dugout. He has been that guy for us all season long…” catcher JT Realmuto was quoted by the Inquirer.
Castellanos Aims Bigger With Seven More Games
Although Castellanos’ feat is remarkable, he is aiming at utilizing this built-up momentum to win more games. His goal is to clutch up seven more games and not less.

“If we don’t win seven more games, it means very little,” he was quoted by The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I am sure I will hear about it from my family when I get home.”
His team, too, has maintained the same momentum. They have been unbeaten since they won against the Miami Marlins in the National League Wild Card Series. Then against the Atlanta Braves, the favorites in the NLDS, and Diamondbacks.
