Ohtani’s presence made the event special, given his pre-existing history with the ace.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was teammates with Shotime during the World Baseball Classic championship held last spring. This is beneficial for the Dodgers, given The Athletic’s claim that Yamamoto has “an open mind about the possibility of playing alongside another Japanese player.”
