In an irony of sorts, a team from Texas just got bitten by the Snakes. Texas Rangers must have never expected this outcome. Just a day after an iconic victory they’ve lost in the most one-sided of contests. Game 1 heroes Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager were neutralized. The Globe Life Field had turned into a library and it felt as if there were no 40,000 people sitting there. The team was shocked so were the fans. They had witnessed a total dismantling.

When the Arizona Diamondbacks stepped into the Globe Life Field for the second day, they looked a little different. They were a team on a mission. From the first inning, they had a swagger that few teams possess. But the Rangers did not look like a team they have been for the entire postseason. There was something huge amiss.

Just when the Rangers had begun dreaming about their first World Series win, Game 2 came to knock some sense into the team. The team that had dominated the postseason, were by far the best batters but here nothing worked. In total the team got just 4 hits. On the other hand, the Diamondbacks had 16. If that was not enough the star players Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager had 0 hits. Garcia and Seager were the stars of their previous win, the stars of their postseason. When the stars fail the Lone Stars fail as well. That’s exactly the case here.

So what happened? Was it the extraordinary pitching of Merrill Kelly? Or did the law of averages finally catch up with the Rangers? After all the Rangers, especially Garcia and Seager have been experiencing a purple patch recently. A comedown had to happen. That it happened in such a spectacular way is just a case of life being funny. Still, as Seager said in the postmatch, the team needs to move on.

But can the magic of El Bombi return? Will Seager find his way back? The last time Garcia had not hit a home run was in ALCS Game 4. And every time these two players have not performed well the team as a whole has struggled. So the Rangers need these two players to get their mojo back in Game 3.

Role of Garcia and Seager in the success of Texas Rangers

Two simple metrics tell about how much Garcia and Seager have contributed to the success of the Rangers in the postseason. The Rangers have scored a total of 25 Home Runs with Garcia and Seager being responsible for 12 of them. The Total RBI of the team is 74. And these two players are responsible for 30 of them. They are the heart of the Rangers’ extremely successful batting performances.
