The reason behind this controversy is because of the child support matter that Alex and Cynthia were trying to handle. But their disagreements made it to the public.
Should Alex Rodriguez pay less child support?
Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez got a lot of fame during the days he played and multiple awards as well. He also has multiple businesses, through which his net worth is in hundreds of millions. But it has now become less since he is not playing anymore.
And after his divorce in 2008, he still pays child and spousal support to his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis. Four years back, when A-Rod was dating then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, he filed a case in court to have the monthly support reduced.
He was paying around $100,000 monthly and wanted to have the payments down to $10,000 a month. Apparently, Jennifer also wanted the same for Alex.
But, Cynthia was not happy with this. She said, “After 10 years of flawlessness, this situation is unsettling.”
A-Rod and JLo and their kids were living together at that time. When this situation happened, the mediation was supposed to take place for one more day but ended after only the first day because of all the quarreling.
After that mediation, the result of the court came in 2009, and the details were all kept confidential.
Is A-Rod still paying $100k?
Since the details were kept confidential during the mediation result, we don’t know the exact amount which Alex is still paying. But yes, he is still paying child and spousal support to his ex-wife Cynthia.

As per some reports, the reduction in child support that Alex wanted to happen did not happen.
Cynthia is married to her fiance now and has a daughter with him. Whereas Alex proposed to Jennifer in 2019. She said yes, and they were supposed to get married in 2020, but because of Covid, their plans got delayed. Then they broke up in 2021.
