A team’s on-field performance depends not only on their playing rotation but also on the supporting staff working behind the scenes—the only reason for not declaring the Dodgers a sure-shot winner this year despite having a star-studded team. It is the collective effort of the players and the supporting staff that makes a team successful. The Yankees are no exception, and their GM, Aaron Boone, highlighted the same in a recent press conference.
While the players’ injuries made a lot of headlines and discussions, the supporting staff did not gain the same; however, this time, Boone focused on how it is important to ensure injury-free sessions for the coaching staff. MLB seasons, including the postseasons, can run for 8–9 months in normal cases. Now, considering this long and physically demanding schedule, the players need to stay fit and technically sound to sustain—remember the long list of injured players from each team every year?
That’s how much toll the MLB season takes on their body. Apart from this, the players also need to stay at the highest of their skill sets to deliver the desired results, but how will they do that? The Coaches! The coaching staff works behind the scenes with the players, ensuring that they stay fit for the games. However, what if the coaching staff gets injured? Yankees GM Aaron Boone just faced that, as he shared a hilarious response because of a report that their bench coach Brad Ausmus recently got injured.

Aaron Boone says that Brad Ausmus suffered a hamstring injury in a pickup basketball game yesterday:
"I advised him not to do that, understandably. But he wanted to take his 55-year-old act out there anyway" 😂 pic.twitter.com/gH8sjB91EI

Reportedly, the Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus suffered a hamstring injury in a pickup basketball game yesterday. “I advised him not to do that, understandably. But he wanted to take his 55-year-old act out there anyway,” Boone responded to the incident, and while it sounds hilarious, replacing an injured coach can be harder than in the case of an injured player. So, the injury of Ausmus means the players will be deprived of his services and his in-game directions, which is too hard to lose.

The Yankees under Aaron Boone are set to make a splash
The Yankees are all set to be in action in the coming month. Till now, there have been no major injury updates from them except a few minor ones, like the hamstring strain of Trent Grisham and the right forearm strain of Jake Cousins. It will now be a race against time to keep the team fit and sound for the regular season. While Ausmus just avoided a blunder, it is a reality check about the importance of staying away from other physical activities. Considering how much Aaron Boone is focused on ensuring an injury-free squad, fans can hope to see the best starting rotation on the opening day.
The Yankees are reportedly accused of playing a third fiddle this year behind the Dodgers and Mets. They are not going to field a star-studded team like the Mets and Dodgers, and thus it is more important for them to keep the best squad available for the games. Rest assured, the Yankees under Aaron Boone are all set to field a contending team, including veterans like Aaron Judge and young blood like Jasson Dominguez. Given all their coaching staff are fit and can guide the players to their best, the Yankees can be a force to reckon with this year.
