The New York Yankees are expected to succeed every season they play. But the 2023 season is panning out for the Bronx Bombers. With the Trade Deadline now complete, the Yankees’ fates seem frozen with their current roster composition, and the moves they made does not enthuse the Bronx Faithful.

The Yankees are locked in a race for an AL Wild Card spot in their bid to make the post-season. And with a misfiring offense and a bullpen that can do with some improvement, the Bronx faithful were expecting moves. And with the Deadline passing, the Yankees fans are not enthused.

Yankees Acquired Two All-Star Relievers in Deadline Moves

According to the most recent update from Talkin’ Yanks, the Yankees’ statistics align well with their performance thus far. The franchise is 23rd in OPS and a whopping 29th in batting average in the major leagues. Defensively, they could do better, too.

Their starting pitchers operate at the 18th-best ERA in the Major League. The only place that the Yankees are succeeding is with their bullpen. With their relieving pitchers, 1st in the Major League so far.

The New York Yankees are hot in pursuit of a spot in the post-season. With the 2022 Home Run King Aaron Judge leading the Pinstripes into a successful post season berth last season, the Yankees would have expected to run it back this year with the similar roster composition.

But after an injury to Aaron Judge, the Yankees have been faltering. And in the Yankees’ only moves on Deadline day, they added 2 relievers, Keynan Middleton and Spencer Howard, to the rotation instead of choosing to improve anywhere else.

Fans React to the Yankees Deadline Day Moves

The fans were obviously unhappy with the moves the Yankees made. Even less so when put into context. The Yankees would want to reinforce their bid for the post-season in 2023. Thanks to social media, the fans made their feelings well known.

With most fans expecting some batting to be bought into the lineup, disappointment ran abound. While some fans were still positive, maintaining that Judge’s return could see a turn in their fortunes this season, most were not happy campers.

Some fans understandably were trying to look on the positive side with the season entering its home stretch and the Yankees truly making a run in at the post-season.
