It’s often said to dream bigger than your fears, and young baseball sensation Ethan Salas has certainly taken that advice to heart. The 16-year-old is a number-one international prospect and has been on MLB teams’ radar for several years. However, a piece of news has been making rounds about the young prodigy’s signing with the San Diego Padres for a staggering $5.6 million bonus. 

And now it seems like his dreams have been manifesting into reality faster than he thought because it wasn’t until the young athlete arrived at the Padres sports complex that he realized what lay ahead. He would be joining the team on the field in the Cactus League game against the White Sox. While it may have been a Spring Training match, the team surely has faith in his abilities, throwing him into the game with some of the best players on the field.

The arrival of Ethan Salas onto the Spring Training field for the San Diego Padres has caused quite a stir among fans. As videos of the player’s plays make their rounds, fans can’t help but get swept in the tide as they send in a flurry of replies.

San Diego Padres pitcher Ryan Weathers posted a video of the young prodigy behind the plate with the caption, “Kids gonna be a dawg!” Surely, that reinforces Ethan’s standing! 

While his performance on the field may not have been mind-blowing, it for sure, was a valuable experience for him as he works to find his place on the team. It will surely be a good day when Salas takes the field as an official player, and from the looks of it, he’s bound to be a sensation.

Ethan Salas is a young baseball prodigy hailing from the bustling city of Caracas, Venezuela. He grew up playing baseball in the country’s youth leagues. However, it is to be noted that his love for baseball was instilled from a young age. The sport runs in the Salas family. Ethan’s father, Jose Antonio, once played for the Atlanta Braves, while his uncle and grandfather also left their footprints in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, and Kansas City Royals. Even his brother, Jose, is a top prospect in the Miami Marlins team.

He is already a big part of the Venezuelan Winter League as the catcher for Aguilas Del Zuila and has been a phenomenal player for the team. It’s based in the historic baseball town of Maracaibo, which is where Ronald Acuna jr. has come from. There’s no doubt that Salas is going to be phenomenal on the big stage when the time comes!
