Major League Baseball has its moments, but recently, it was a minor league game that grabbed headlines. In a match-up between the Nashville Sounds and the Columbus Clippers, a brawl broke out. And unlike the one that usually takes place between fans, this recent occurrence took place between the players. Benches cleared from both sides, and among the Sounds, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, was Abner Uribe.
The 22-year-old left everyone in awe of his performance during Spring Training earlier this year. Now, it seems like his efforts are paying off. The pitching prospect is going to the major leagues and his reaction couldn’t be more heartfelt.

To be clear, Uribe was not personally involved in the fight vs the Clippers. The perpetrating parties, Alex Jackson and George Valera, were ejected from the game. Uribe simply wanted to support his teammate and fortunately, he stays safe from any harmful action against him. And while his team may have lost that game, the Brewers’ no. 9 prospect, according to the MLB Pipeline, is headed to MLB.

It’s only been a few weeks since Uribe was promoted to Triple-A Nashville, but his progress has been tremendous. There is also the fact that MLB teams seem to be changing up their roster, especially pitchers, owing to regular games.

Whatever the reason, this promotion seems to be real and the 23-year-old had an emotional reaction to the news.
Uribe broke down in tears as he informed his parents
Although the team has not given an official statement, MLB Insider Hector Gomez first reported the news in a tweet. The post shows Uribe on what seems to be a rooftop, talking to his parents on the phone. Somebody else is recording the moment with a flashlight on the pitcher’s face as he first hides his face in the crook of his arm.
