The New York Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. tied the knot with the fiancée Alondra Russy over the weekend in Miami. A few of his former and current teammates were in attendance, and they seemed to have a great time. In group photos shared online, the newlyweds looked as happy as ever, and so did his Yankee peers. Additionally, there were a couple of unexpected players at the wedding too. 

However, there was one question. Captain Aaron Judge was nowhere to be seen in the group photo. Was he not invited? Or could he not make it? Well, whatever the reason was, the fans sure are perplexed by his absence. While the Yanks seemed to have a blast along with their partners at the wedding, ‘All Rise’ not being there gave fans an unmatched FOMO. 

How Did Some Players Make It and Some Did Not?

@TalkinYanks posted an image on Twitter where the Bronx Bombers and their partners posed for a fun picture. While the men and women appeared having fun. Among many who were invited to the wedding were Josh Donaldson and Aroldis Chapman. Though they were former Yankees, they are quite infamous among the Yankees fans. That said, it is worth considering why Judge was missing from the gang. 

The folks who did attend the wedding were first baseman Anthony Rizzo of the Yankees and his wife Emily Rizzo, free agent pitcher Luis Severino and his wife Rosmaly Severino. Also, shortstop Gleyber Torres and his fiancée Elizabeth Rodriguez, Josh Donaldson, a free agent, and his fiancée Briana Miller, Gio Urshela, a free agent, and right fielder Giancarlo Stanton were in attendance. It was quite evident that the gang had a blast.

Despite the large number of New York Yankees attendees, Aaron Judge was conspicuously absent from the celebration. It was noted that the Yankees captain was absent from all pictures. While talks of All Rise’s absence went on, there were folks who were also quite amazed by Josh Donaldsons and Aroldis Chapman’s presence amidst the Yanks. Given their uneasy history of the former being released and the latter being absent for a mandatory work out session, the fans gave mixed reactions upon seeing them in the picture.

What Was It About the Pictures That Started a Cascade of Fan Tweets?

With @TalkinYanks tweeting about this, a flurry of fan comments started. Thinning the boundaries between personal and professional lives of these players, some fans ridiculed them. Other fans on the flip side could not take their attention off the dapper looking sports men alongside their stunning partners.

Hinting at Giancarlo’s injury, one fan said, “Hopefully Stanton didn’t pull a hammy“.

Another fan was quite taken aback by Donaldson’s presence.

There were a few other fans who noticed Cole  missing from the picture.

Few fans said they could not recognize their players due to facial hair.

One fan among many continued to wonder why the captain was not there.

Well, though some were missing, and some weren’t, the wedding clearly was a great hit and an even better union of all players in November.

While the heat of the underway off season exists, a brief separation from the competitive world of professionalism would indeed be a breath of fresh air. And it was! The pictures are a proof.
