It has been almost a week since Aaron Judge broke the single-season home run record in the American League by hitting his 62nd HR of the season. Although it was a historic achievement for the Yankees slugger, now, Judge has his eyes set on ALDS.

Not only Judge, but even the New York Yankees fans are way over the home run record, as they have to face the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS. However, the Yankees legend, Roger Maris’ son, Roger Maris Jr., is still celebrating Judge’s record-breaking season.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating Aaron Judge for the great player he has been this year. But Maris Jr. may have hurt the Yankees fans while cheering for Judge. Notably, the Pinstripes saw their golden years between 1998 and 2001.

During that time, the Derek Jeter-led Yankees were almost unbeatable in the entire MLB. They played four World Series in four years. Considering this fact, no one can deny that the Jeter-led Yankees dominated that era.

However, Maris Jr. has a different opinion on the same. Not did he indirectly disrespect the Yankees, but Maris Jr. put Judge’s remarkable season ahead of the Yankees’ successful years. Per him, Judge’s performance is much better.

“For the baseball fans that enjoyed baseball’s results in 1998 thru 2001. I know it was entertaining for you… but I like Judge’s performance much better and so do many others. We all have our heroes and opinions in baseball… Now let’s all enjoy the playoffs!!” Maris Jr. tweeted.

Can Judge guide the Yankees to the championship?

Considering the kind of season Aaron Judge is having, he can snatch a game from the opponent. But depending on an individual never helps any team, especially in the knockout rounds. Having Judge by their side is a big plus for the Yankees, no doubt about that.
