The New York Yankees offense is finally turning dominant. In fact, in a big way; putting on a display of power hitting that left Miller Park stunned last weekend. After a relatively slow start to the season, the Yankees have established their arrival as a force to be reckoned with early in the season, especially against the Milwaukee Brewers. One of the key factors in this resurgence is Aaron Judge. Is he finally shaking off the rust?
While Aaron Judge’s monstrous home runs are typically the headlines, his early season struggles raised concerns amongst the Yankees too. Insider information from Sports Illustrated’s Yankees reporter Pat Ragazzo sheds light on a potential explanation.

In conversation with New York Post Sports’ Dexter Henry, Ragazzo addresses Judge’s potential end to his slump. He says, “He[Judge] dealt with some physical issues in spring training he had the abdominal issue that was connected to the oblique and he was not swinging the bat very much and not playing in Grapefruit League. An abdominal problem limited Judge’s at-bats and Grapefruit League appearances, hindering his ability to find his swing early on.”

The news of Judge’s physical setbacks makes his recent surge even more impressive. With a healthy swing returning, Judge has started looking like his usual dominant self. This rise in performance in conjunction with the continued brilliance of Juan Soto, has created a scary scenario for opposing pitchers.
The Sports Illustrated reporter further added, “With Juan Soto and Aaron Judge playing at MVP levels, watch out for this Yankees offense!” He went on to say that the sky is the limit for how many runs the Judge-Soto duo is going to be scoring in each game.
The opposing pitchers have more than just Yankees’ Soto-Judge duo to be afraid of

On one hand, Judge’s return to form is a welcome sight for Yankees fans, On the other, Soto has been nothing short of phenomenal since his arrival. His well-rounded hitting underscored by a flaming average and steady stream of home runs, has conveniently filled the void that Captain All Rise’s early struggles left. This one-two punch of power at the top of the lineup poses an exhaustive challenge for any team.
This is to say that the offensive firepower doesn’t stop with Judge and Soto. Young Anthony Volpe who recently turned 23 has surprised everyone with his consistent hitting despite a sub-par debut year. Also, veterans like Rizzo and Stanton remain constant threats. It is this depth throughout the lineup that ensures that opposing pitchers can’t afford to focus solely on taking the superstars down. With that, one can say conveniently that perhaps the Yankees are back on track with their offensive power.
