Throughout his six years with the Pinstripes, Aaron Judge has proved to the world that he would do anything for the greater betterment of his team. Similarly, back in 2019, when Washington Nationals right fielder, Bryce Harper, entered the free market, Judge admitted that he would we willing to make a massive sacrifice if it meant viewing Harper in Pinstripes.

Analogous to that, in an interview with TMZ Sports from 2019, Judge spoke about how he has wanted to play with Bryce Harper for the longest time. And Harper’s free market entry was the perfect time for the Yankees.

What sacrifice was Aaron Judge willing to make?

At that time, and even today, the Pinstripes outfield was filled with Aaron Judge in RF, Aaron Hicks in CF, and Giancarlo Stanton in LF. However, Judge believed that if a superstar like Bryce Harper, who played in the right field, arrived at the Bronx, adjustments would be made to fit him in.

Aaron Judge said, “Anytime you can add an MVP to a team, it’s going to make them better.” However, both Judge and Harper played in the right field.

But the Pinstripes right fielder said that the Pinstripes management would accommodate him into the team. While talking about that, Judge said, “Wherever he wants to play, wherever he wants to play — we’ll make it work.”

Bryce Harper’s record-breaking contract with the Phillies

Bryce Harper made his MLB debut in 2012, with the Washington Nationals. After spending seven years with the Nationals and winning multiple awards, the right fielder entered free agency at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Owing to his fantastic performances and magnificent numbers, everyone wanted Bryce Harper in their outfield. However, not everyone could afford it. Consequently, it wasn’t the Yankees. And in 2019, Harper, who just turned 30, signed a 13-year contract with Philadelphia Phillies worth $330 million.

Harper’s deal set the record for the largest MLB contract at that time. However, Mike Trout’s 12-year contract extension worth $430 million broke that record very soon.
