While the masses are used to seeing tall people in the sports world, few have matched the stature of the newest Yankees captain Aaron Judge. With a 6ft. 7in. height, All-Rise is only dwarfed by the likes of NBA legends and some rare MLB players. Judge’s tall personality certainly doesn’t hurt his outfielder duties either, as he’s able to extend his body farther to catch balls. And in addition to diligent practice hours, his height is definitely a feature that helps his play.
But it might prove to be bothersome in his personal life when he has to pose for pictures with friends and family. Although it’s doubtful, the fans know much about his life away from baseball since he’s a very private person. And yet, one of his friends got a dose of popularity when she posted a picture with the Yankees star back in his teen days.

Imagine the year 2012, the most popular time conspiracy theorists liked to believe the world would end. Social media wasn’t the phenomenon it is today. Instagram had only launched two years ago in 2010, and people had yet to get sucked into its orbit. And nevertheless, when one of Judge’s old friends, Hannah Dill, posted a picture with him, it skyrocketed in popularity. Today, a little more than a decade later, it has more than 600 likes. Judge was popular as a Fresno State Bulldog at the time, and got drafted into the MLB the next year. In the picture Dill posted, the Yankee’s face isn’t even visible! Featuring only his tall body alongside Dill, the photo is captioned, “So tall he can’t fit in the pic!”

While basketball is a sport that clearly makes use of towering players for shooting those hoops, baseball also subtly takes advantage of players with gigantic heights. In the past, players like Jon Rauch, Sean Hjelle, and Randy Johnson, among others have graced MLB with their tall presences. But perhaps more commonly, it’s NBA that sees huge builds regularly.
While there have been people much taller than even Shaquille O’Neal in NBA history, Judge managed to stand taller than the current Knicks center Julius Randle.
