New York Yankees star Aaron Judge has had an eventful off-season and is currently preparing for the regular season. He was one of a few stars who chose to avoid participating in the recently concluded World Baseball Classic. Judge decided to focus on the 2023 MLB season and the Yankees after signing a $360 million contract.

He showed up to Spring Training early and has shown determination as a player and captain. But Judge watched on as Team USA battled Japan in the Finals, losing in an intense game. Apart from the game as a whole, the final showdown between Trout and Ohtani was probably the most anticipated thing. Most recently, the Yankees’ captain opened up on the Mike Trout-Shohei Ohtani showdown. And the Yankees captain opened up about how Trout failed to make one of Judge’s hopes come true.

Japan beat Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic Final 3-2. Shohei Ohtani struck out Mike Trout to win the tournament for Japan. Yankees star Aaron Judge has now opened up on the Final and given his opinion on it. While speaking to the New York Post, Judge said he wished Trout had tied the game with a home run. But he acknowledged the enormity of the showdown between Trout and Ohtani while praising the two of them.

According to the New York Post’s Dan Martin, Judge said, “I wish Trout would have hit a homer to keep the U.S. in the game, but any time you see two of the best in the game battle it out there on a 3-2 pitch, that’s what any baseball fan wants it to come down to.” He further said, “You’re never gonna see that anywhere else, with both of them from the same team and at the top of their game.”

Although Judge has shown enthusiasm and praise toward the World Baseball Classic, he appears noncommittal about the 2026 edition. It will be interesting to see if he eventually suits up for Team USA at the next WBC. But right now, he will be focused on what’s ahead of him.

Judge wants to win a World Series

Aaron Judge is fully focused and intent on winning a World Series with the New York Yankees. That is the Yankees captain’s main goal as the 2023 MLB season approaches. He showed up to Spring Training early and has worked on his game, getting ready. Furthermore, he is practicing in the left field, a position he has not played since college.
