Aaron Judge‘s name has echoed his greatness in the last decade of MLB. Since making his debut for the New York Yankees in 2016, he has been a star and has claimed many accolades under his name. With an ever-improving trajectory, Judge further looks to add more to his records and finish his MLB career on a higher level. Although his baseball career has been smooth, the star player had humble beginnings, including a heartbreaking loss.

The reigning AL MVP currently plays for the New York Yankees, but he was a big San Francisco Giants fan growing up. And like any other, Judge was a party to the success and losses of the team. But this road was hard, and was left devastated after an enormous loss. The book Aaron Judge: The Incredible Story of the New York Yankees’ Home Run–Hitting Phenom talks about that incident.

A Giant mintage that left Aaron Judge in deep pain

Aaron Judge wanted his team to win the World Series like any other baseball fan. Especially when the San Francisco Giants won the National League pennant in 2002. The Giants looked like a complete team, and the baseball world predicted them to win their first World Series title. But it did not happen as they suffered a playoff loss, leaving everyone in pain, including 10-year-old Aaron Judge.

On page number 22 of the book, Author David Fischer wrote about the entire situation. He writes, “Aaron Judge was 10 years old when the Giants won the 2002 National League pennant. That team was poised to bring San Francisco its first World Series title before suffering one of the worst meltdowns in postseason history.”

He then describes that the Giants led the game six with 5-0 and were inches away from winning the title. But a decision forced the team beyond the path that affected the result of game seven. The Angels’ cruise passed the Giants for the title. Fischer pointing towards wrote, “In Game 7, the Angels waltzed past an emotionally deflated Giants team to a 4–1 victory and the World Series title. At the time, Judge was devastated by the heartbreaking loss suffered by his favorite team.”

It was an enormous loss for the Judge, who overcame it to write his fate. But years after, the situation has put Judge in a similar state as he battles it to return and help the struggling Yankees.

The Yankees continue to struggle amidst Judge’s comeback hopes

It has been over a month since Judge last played. Since then, the Yankees have been on a downward trajectory and playing like a mediocre team. As the team is struggling, Judge is trying his best to make a comeback and contribute to keeping the world series dream. Though positive signs are there, Judge could have some difficulty while playing.
