New York Yankees may have just lost, but at least fans have found some form of vindication. The Bronx Bombers have lost 3 of their last four games and fans are praying for a revival. The roster’s continued underperformance in 2023 has left many frustrated, but most are happy that at least one failing player is out.

No, not Josh Donaldson, although he seems to be back on the IL after a short stint in pinstripes this season. Rather, it was the release of the least popular Aaron Hicks in the Bronx a few months ago that had fans celebrating. Now, it seems like they can’t help but laugh at the left fielder apparently showing his true colors in Baltimore.

Aaron Hicks May Be Back to His Bronx Years

It was barely two months ago when the Bronx was booing Aaron Hicks for his consistent lack of performance these last few seasons. The Yankees finally seemed to realize the change that needed to be made and released the $70 million worth player, Hicks. He then signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Orioles and seemed to have a sudden transformation.

There was no dearth of jokes about ‘the power of the beard’, which Hicks had grown since leaving the pinstripes. The Yankees’ strict grooming rules didn’t allow for one, but the left fielder was suddenly putting up better numbers than he had in years with the Orioles.

Baltimore fans were happy to gain a new player, and Bronx fans were happy to see him go. They let out loud boos at him when the two teams clashed a few weeks ago, which the ballplayer expected.

And in answer, Hicks hit a home run that quietened the stands, but only briefly. They knew he would reveal his real skills soon, which he apparently did at a recent game.

The Yankee fanbase may be the only sports fanbase that is as well known as the team itself. The Pinstripes have a long history of serving as a global symbol representing the USA.

But fans of the Bronx Bombers are somehow almost equally well known. They will shower love when it’s deserved, but on the other hand, they will give one the coldest shoulder when they feel betrayed.

Although Hicks made this one fielding error in a series of good performances, Yankee fans couldn’t help but laugh at him.

Some wondered why he was jumping when the catch could have been easily made otherwise.

Most seemed unsurprised at the display, although Hicks has been giving something of a consistently good performance in his new jersey. But only time will tell if this transformation is real or if Yankee fans are right.
