New York Yankees are a team with a rich history. Over the years, the Yanks have produced some of the most legendary names of the ballgame, including Babe Ruth, Derek Jeter, and now Aaron Judge. The team is on a constant lookout for fresh budding talent, and they have found it in 21-year-old Anthony Volpe. The rookie recently won the open shortstop position for the team over Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was then relegated to center field. However, in turn, Aaron Hicks, a core fielder for the team has been left behind.

The Yankees made quite a lot of roster changes this year, and major ones at that, but they still had a gaping void in their left field due to Aaron Hicks’s underwhelming performances. The player has been sitting on the bench for the whole of the first 3 games of the 2023 season and has now expressed his desire to play.

Aaron Hicks has expressed his frustration over his current situation in the team. In a recent statement. The left fielder said, “I just want to play. I don’t want to come off the bench and face closers all day. I want to play the field, I want to play every day, and it’s just what I want to do.” However, Hicks’ underwhelming plays on the field and his lethargic attitude has turned many Yankee fans against him. Despite his desire to play, it seems that Hicks has lost the support of the fanbase.

One fan, however, related to Hicks’ sentiment in a lighthearted way, saying that they too would like to play for the Yankees.

The Yankees have been actively making some big roster changes this season, with IKF taking over the center field position from Harrison Bader, who is currently out because of an injury.

Aaron Judge had started the first two games of the season in center field, but with the captain moving back to his old position in the right field on Sunday, Kiner-Falefa got the start in the center field over Hicks, who was relegated to the bench.

What did the front office say about the situation?

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone offered his insight on the situation. Explaining that hasn’t played Hicks yet because of certain matchups. However, he continued on to say that the left-fielder will get his chance to play soon enough.

It’s apparent that Hicks will have to work harder to earn his spot in the starting lineup. Whether he sees the light of the stadiums from within the field remains to be seen.
