When the champagne popped and the confetti fell, the Los Angeles Dodgers weren’t just celebrating—they were rubbing salt in the wound. There’s no doubt they dominated the New York Yankees in the World Series. They just threw it out of the ballpark with their gameplay. But after the win, instead of soaking in the moment, they went full power on trash talk.
Chris Taylor went straight for the shot, saying the Yankees “crapped down their leg” in Game 5. Miguel Rojas simply dismissed the Yankees, saying that they played a “lazy defense.” Joe Kelly piled on the talk by calling the Bronx team “sloppy.” But did it end there?
Kelly even went on to say that the Yankees wouldn’t have cracked the playoffs in a re-seeded format. Ouch! Of course, the New York Yankees fans were not thrilled. There is absolute rage about all these bashes after the LA win.

But while the fans are defending their stars, Aaron Boone is defending the behavior!
Aaron Boone on the Dodgers’ trash talking after winning the World Series:

Yes, that’s right. Aaron Boone shrugged off the topic earlier, and this time too, when asked about the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ trash talk, he took a rather diplomatic stance. “Sometimes you’re coming off the drunkenness of winning a World Championship, and some guys are more inclined to spout off and be a little more colorful than others,” Boone mentioned.
Aaron Boone’s argument was that the top players, like Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, and Mookie Betts, weren’t a part of this thrashing. So why bother? Boone clarified that they have nothing to say but just do better.
Whether you take this as a way to excuse the Dodgers’ antics or him taking the high road, it’s subjective. But this wouldn’t sit well with fans. The timing for this is bad too, given that Boone’s contract extension talk by Hal Steinbrenner wasn’t well-received by the fans.
Meanwhile, ex-Yankee Jon Berti couldn’t be more thrilled with Boone’s response.
Jon Berti calls the Los Angeles Dodgers trash talk out
The Dodgers’ behavior on the Yankees wasn’t accepted at all by Jon Berti. The ex-Yankee, now a 3B at the Chicago Cubs, thought it was a bit too much. “I don’t know if I’ve ever heard a World Series-winning team talk as badly as they did about the World Series-losing team,” Berti mentioned on Foul Territory. He also expressed that it felt like they were being disrespected like they didn’t even belong in the World Series.

Berti, who struggled in playoffs with a .182/.250/.182 in 11 at-bats, wasn’t about to let the New York Yankees be dismissed as frauds. He knew how hard the team worked and how far they got. “We won a lot of games last year. We won our division,” said Berti. And yes, they did take care of Kansas City and Cleveland Guardians. So of course they deserved to be there. But Berti did not shy away from admitting that, “Unfortunately, we didn’t perform at our best.”
However, the host of the podcast didn’t think the trash talk mattered at all. He shrugged it off, saying it’s alcohol! Referring to the intoxication that comes after enjoying the bottles, A.J. Pierzynski pointed out, “Especially when you interview guys right after winning the World Series, you never know what they’re going to say…. To the victors go the spoils, right?”

But no matter how they react, the Yankee players or fans are still hurting from the brutal loss. And now, they are looking forward to what’s next. Even if Juan Soto left for their neighbor, they have some key additions, like Cody Bellinger and Max Fried. The Yankees have to do their talking on the mound. Do you think they will come back?
