If one were to describe the last few months for the New York Yankees, it would be—brutal. A dream series matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers lost? Brutal. Also, the sheer trash talk they heard after that loss from fans and even the LA players? Brutal. But the worst is, of course, the realization that once again they brutally lost their chance at a championship. Same reality, same heartbreak, same story since 2009!

To make matters worse, Juan Soto walked away like it meant nothing to wear pinstripes. Gone were the days when players like Alex Rodriguez gave up playing shortstop and shifted to third base, just to wear those pinstripes. Now the attention has gone to Aaron Boone. He hasn’t been able to produce the results. Since his takeover as manager in 2018, Aaron Boone has led the Yankees to a 603-429 record. While they have been contenders, they have reached the World Series just once, and that too last season.

Yet, the club decided to pick up his option for the 2025 season. And Hal Steinbrenner seemed more than happy to keep Boone on this journey longer. He said how “great” of a manager he is and said, “We will be talking to him in the days and weeks to come. There will be conversations had with him about potentially staying longer than that.”

Aaron Boone had to face the question on Tuesday. But the New York Yankees skipper made it clear—he isn’t into negotiation but what’s ahead. “Nothing’s happened yet. I know there have been some talks around that. That’ll handle itself and work itself out. The reality is I’m so fired up to be here today and to get to work for this organization and for Hal that hopefully something does work out.

Boone added, “The reality is, I’m so fired up to be here today and to get to work for this organization and for Hal that hopefully something does work out. There’s no other place I’d rather be and no other team I’d rather be doing this with,” said Boone. This portion seems like a plea, almost!

Now the timing of this conversation is crucial. Because Dave Roberts, after a rather awesome year with the LA Dodgers has sent his front office a message – he wants to feel valued. As per sources, he is expecting a $10 million contract. If not, who knows? He could walk away. And would the Yankees be willing to get him? One never knows. But honestly, if the Yankees were ever going to remove him, it could have happened in 2023 itself.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Boone the right man for the Yankees, or is it time for a fresh start?

Have an interesting take?

When the team didn’t cut it into the playoffs, too. But they stuck on, and hence, now that they have had a successful year almost, how can someone think the front office won’t stick with him? However, fans are not thrilled with Aaron Boone’s contract extension. And he is only giving fans more to hate on him!

Aaron Boone’s comments are not helping him win over Yankees fans

Given the huge uproar about fans not wanting him as manager, Aaron Boone, would want to get into their good books, right? Wrong! Well, that’s what it seems because his recent comments have been alarming and just like that adding more fuel to gasoline. Now fans are eager to see Jasson Dominguez, their top prospect, in the starting lineup. But Boone doesn’t agree to it at all.

“He’s a young guy that’s still got to go out and earn it,” Boone said about the 21-year-old having a short as the left infielder. Now mind you, Dominguez has shown flashes of brilliance in the game. He launched six home runs in just 26 games. His .207 batting average sure tells; that he needs improvement, but his power has been incredible. But that’s not the only comment that can get him into the fans’ bad books.

Aaron Boone, when asked about the Dodgers’ recent trash talk after the World Series win, was diplomatic and totally downplayed their remarks. “Sometimes you’re coming off the drunkenness of winning a World Championship, and some guys are more inclined to spout off and be a little more colorful than others.”

He also justified them, saying they were not Shohei’s, Freeman’s, or Betts. Well, this clearly won’t sit well with fans. Do you think Aaron Boone will come into the good books of fans anytime soon now? Let us know in the comments.
