Unlike Jeter, A-Rod made his MLB debut for the Seattle Mariners and later went on to play for the Texas Rangers before signing for the New York Yankees. However, long before playing for the Yankees, A-Rod and Jeter were close friends.

Notably, it must have hurt Jeter at the time. Even the MLB world was divided into two parts. But what was more surprising was when the Yankees’ GM had some fun with the whole situation.
“I don’t get involved,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said in 2001. “But there is nothing juicier than a spat among millionaires.”
