What started over two decades ago still hasn’t left the MLB entirely. The feud between Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter that began with a statement over contracts affected their friendship the most. Although the two are on good terms now, there was reportedly a huge rift between A-Rod and Jeter. And if reports are true, then A-Rod chose to have dinner with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez over Jeter’s jersey retirement ceremony in 2017.

Alex Rodriguez ditched Derek Jeter for a date night?
May 14, 2017, was the day set for Derek Jeter’s jersey retirement ceremony at Yankee Stadium. Coincidentally, the ceremony fell on the same day as mother’s day. That day, instead of being there for his once-best friend, A-Rod chose to spend the night with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and his mother.
When Alex did not appear for the ceremony, it raised questions. Although he might not have done it on purpose, it was enough for the baseball world to question A-Rod’s priority.
However, later he answered questions about him not being at the ceremony. He said that the only reason behind it was the retirement ceremony being on the same day as mother’s day. And he spent the evening with his mother and JLo. However, he confirmed that he saw the whole ceremony, and even posted a congratulatory story on his Instagram.
