Every baseball fan will agree that the fiercest rivalry in the history of MLB is between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The rivalry began in 1919 when Red Sox manager Harry Frazze sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees. It stood the test of time and, even after a century, is still fierce as ever. Former third baseman of the New York Yankees, Alex Rodriguez, is one of the players who has first-hand experience of the rivalry.

The competitiveness is so fierce that now friends Rodriguez and ‘Big Papi’, David Ortiz, will not play catch together even if they’re both retired. Therefore, when playing with each other is a problem, then wearing the rival’s gear would be unthinkable for either of them. But this offense did happen in the presence of ‘Big Papi’ himself and a couple of others. The Yankees retired baseman, Alex Rodriguez, was forced to wear his rival’s attire while on national television.

Why Alex Rodriguez wore the Red Sox gear?

The Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez got dressed up from head to toe as a Boston Red Sox player. All because the man lost a bet from his on-field rival, and off-field friend David Ortiz.

While the bet is still unclear, Rodriguez had to swallow his pride and dress up as a Red Sox player. It was an embarrassing moment for A-Rod, who has won many awards while wearing the Pinstripes. Although it was embarrassing for A-Rod, it was much more fun for the others present.

When Alex said that if by chance the Hall of Famer had lost, he would not have worn the Yankees uniform at any cost. ‘Big Papi’ stayed loyal to his team and agreed with the former Yankee.

There was another surprise in the bet: whoever won would be spraying champagne on the other. And just as the Red Sox legend was about to do it, the former Yankee pulled off the ultimate trick. As Ortiz got ready to spray champagne all over Alex, the former Yankee ripped off the Red Sox jersey. With it, he revealed the Yankees jersey underneath.
