Albert Pujols, popularly known to be one of the most loved and appreciated modern-day baseball players, recently made history after entering the 700-home run club alongside Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, and Hank Aaron. That being said, while 2022 was a professional success for the baseman, personally, Pujols witnessed a few ups and downs.

Back in 2000, Albert married Deidre Pujols. After a 22-year-long marriage, the couple called it quits and officially announced their divorce earlier this year. Since then, Albert Pujols has definitely moved on after recently announcing that he’s in a relationship with Nicole Fernandez.

Has Albert Pujols found love again?

Nicole Fernandez is the daughter of former Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernández. MLB insider Hector Gomez also confirmed this news with a picture of the brand new couple, along with a caption, “Albert Pujols fell in love again!”

Nicole also reached her Instagram handle with a carousel of pictures with Albert Pujols. Even with the baseman entering the 700-club, she posted a story on her Instagram congratulating Pujols, along with her expressing love towards him.

Notably, Pujols had announced 2022 to be his last MLB season. And after the Redbirds got knocked out by the Phillies, ‘The Machine’ bid adieu to baseball.

The Machine’s accomplished playing career

Albert Pujols made his MLB debut with the Redbirds in 2001. Since then, he spent 11 years with the Cardinals, before moving to the LA Angels in 2012. After sticking by the underperforming and perpetually disappointing Angels for another 10 years, The Machine moved to the other LA team, the Dodgers. Finally, for the last season of his career, he came back to the Cardinals and called it quits after they got knocked out in the wild-card round.

During his 22-year-long MLB career, Pujols won two World Championships with the Cardinals, three National League MVP awards, six Silver slugger awards, and two National League Hank Aaron Awards. The baseman also won the Roberto Clemente Award and appeared on 11 All-Star teams.

Ultimately, after chasing down 703 career home runs, and reaching the number four position in the list of all-time home runs, at the age of 42, Albert Pujols decided to end his magnificent career in the Major Leagues.
