Derek Jeter is one of the greatest Yankees ever, putting his heart and soul into winning games for the team. The Captain was a classy athlete and never did anything that would create controversy. Furthermore, he was loyal to a fault and spent the entirety of his career with the Yankees.
Jeter recently revealed his thoughts on Free Agency and said that he never really considered playing for other teams.

Furthermore, The Captain was a Yankees fan growing up and that made playing for the team even more special. Derek Jeter wanted to win with the pinstripes and he did just that, winning 5 World Series titles during his career.
Derek Jeter never thought of leaving the Yankees
Jeter revealed that he wanted to be a Yankee for his entire career and that he never thought of leaving. He admitted this in a recent appearance on The Eli Manning Show. While discussing his legacy, the captain admitted that he always wanted to be remembered as a Yankee.
Jeter said, “The Yankee organization is the only organization I ever wanted to play for. Um but it’s it’s, you know, I was a free agent once. Told them I wasn’t going anywhere. I don’t know if that’s a good negotiating tactic. But that’s what I told them. And you know, I always said that I wanted to be remembered as a Yankee.”

Furthermore, he outright rejected the thought of playing with another team. Jeter did eventually end up spending his entire career with the Bronx-based team. He retired in 2014, having played 20 years with the pinstripes and cementing his legacy as one of their greatest champions.
The Yankees honored Jeter by retiring his jersey number
The New York Yankees honored Jeter by retiring his number 2 jersey in 2017. Jeter’s number 2 was the last single-digit Yankee jersey to be retired. The team hosted a huge celebration in his honor at Yankee Stadium on May 14th, 2017.
