Known for his outspoken nature, Alex Rodriguez picked the Mets over the Yankees while discussing their signing strategy.
Alex Rodriguez criticized the Yankees while praising the Mets
Rodriguez recently made an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd and gave his opinion on team management. While doing this, he criticized the New York Yankees and praised the New York Mets for their offseason strategy. He seemed concerned over why the Yankees waited so long to extend Judge’s contract.
Per A-Rod, it should have been done at least 4-5 years ago. When talking about the Mets, he praised them for being a proactive team, not a reactive team.
Rodriguez said “Going back to the Yankees, it just feels like they’re a dollar short, a day later every time and a bad poker player. But I mean, getting Aaron Judge is unanimous. You should’ve signed him 4-5 years ago…”
“The Mets do a great job. They let go of deGrom and before the ink is dry and he’s on the plane, they already brought in Verlander. So they’re playing very proactive chess versus reactive…,” A-Rod added.
And although A-Rod may be right on the management front, it will all come down to results. It will be very interesting to see which New York-based team has the better season in 2023.
