Shohei Ohtani is one of the best players in the League right now and has developed into a versatile star. The Los Angeles Angels star has been breaking records since entering the Major Leagues in 2018.

But Ohtani seemed to be breaking the sound barrier in a recent outing. As the one-time AL MVP was spotted test-driving some really fast cars this offseason.

For those unversed, Shohei Ohtani was recently visible, test-driving a Porsche supercar. The Japanese sensation performed fantastically in the 2022 season, putting up mind-boggling numbers. Furthermore, he finished second in MVP voting and fourth in Cy Young voting.

Shohei Ohtani showed his love for cars while in Japan

Ohtani was recently spotted at the Porsche Experience Center in Tokyo and test-drove their cars. Porsche Japan shared pictures of Ohtani test-driving what appears to be Porsche’s 911 Carrera T. The one-time MVP was seen with other models as well, the common factor being that all the cars were red.

Porsche shared the pictures on Twitter and said “Our Driving Athlete; Shohei Ohtani; visited Porsche Experience Center Tokyo and enjoyed the driving program.” Ohtani may be looking to make an upgrade this season.

The Japanese superstar owns a Tesla Model X and might seek to either upgrade or add to his garage. The Tesla is Ohtani’s first car, and he bought it just last year. 2023 will be a big season for the Angels superstar as he gets set for free agency in 2024.

The 2023 season is crucial for Ohtani

The Japanese sensation signed a 1-year $30 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels for the 2023 season. But he will be a free agent in 2024 and that’s what makes this upcoming season so important. Although Ohtani has established himself as a star in the league, his performance in 2023 will affect his free agency.

Also, it is highly likely that the one-time MVP leaves the Angels in pursuit of winning a title. Ohtani wants to win and the Angels have not made the postseason since 2014.
