The Houston Astros may have won the 2022 World Series but the Philadelphia Phillies gave them some stiff competition. The team won the National League pennant and recently received their championship rings amid much fan attention. One major player that led to this success was Bryce Harper, twice the winner of the NL MVP. The designated hitter proved the worth of his lucrative contract when he led his team to their first postseason appearance in 11 years.
But the 2022 off-season spelled trouble for the 30-year-old as he had to undergo Tommy John surgery. The Phillies announced the slugger would miss part of the 2023 season as he recovered. Harper has yet to appear in a game this year but he did give fans an exciting update recently. The Philadelphia team has been struggling with his absence and the fans have certainly not forgotten his stellar display from last season.
