MLB legends possess the power to sway fans in any direction. A rare video featuring the six times NBA champion Michael Jordan eager to get the autograph of one of the best shortstops of all time has resurfaced. Not only MJ but Lakers star, LeBron James, was also seen calling ‘The Kid’ his favorite player growing up once. ‘The Kid’ is a nickname for the MLB legend, Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr.

Having spent more than two decades of his life playing baseball, Griffey Jr. has won many titles. Those titles include becoming the All-Star player thirteen times and American League’s Most Valuable Player in 1997, and many more.

The MLB legend’s fame did not remain only in baseball but spread as far as it could. It also went to NBA and charmed the now owner of Charlotte Hornets way back in the early 90s.

At a time when everybody was still discovering what the word cool meant, ‘The Kid’ himself became the definition of the word. And so, his fame has only risen. In the resurfaced video, MJ can be clearly seen carefully choosing a bat to get the autograph of the baseball sensation.

It was, indeed, a legendary moment when the NBA star, who was at the top of his career at the time, came to the All-Star game in 1993 to get the autograph of another GOAT.

Not only this another NBA star, LeBron James, recently called Mariners player his favorite while growing up.

His words only gave another proof that Griffey Jr.’s fame was never limited to the game of baseball.

On his first ballot in 2016, Ken got a total of 99.3% votes. And therefore, got inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. As soon as his induction announcement got made, a flag bearing Griffey’s number 24 was flown from the Space Needle.

To further honor The Kid and his career, the Mariners announced to retire the GOAT’s jersey number 24. It happened just two days after he got inducted into Cooperstown on January 6, 2016.
