Almost every baseball player has a favorite NBA star. And with Carroll, who is currently on a $111 million contract with Diamondbacks, Kevin Durant tops that list. While in a conversation with Mookie Betts, Corbin revealed it was an intimidating journey that started when he was eight-year-old. A snippet concerning this was posted by Bleacher Report on Twitter.

In the video, Betts asked Carrol about his NBA love. Carroll answered, “I grew up going to Sonic games.” Given that Kevin Durant was a big name in the Sonics setup, Betts asked Carroll, “And you saw KD?” To which the Shortstop replied, “I did see KD. I was eight, so I don’t know if I fully appreciated it. Okay. What I was seeing? He was dominant right away.”

Since then, Carroll drew inspiration from the concept and has been applying it within the realm of MLB. After 110 games, he is averaging 0.273 with an OPS of 0.867 with a contribution of 79 runs and 21 homers.

Apart from these attractive stats for 2023 season, the Arizona Diamondbacks star performance was once appreciated by KD, who wore his name’s jersey. Not only this, the NBA star, while congratulating the team, especially Carrol, tweeted, “Good win @Dbacks.”
