As the NBA playoffs came to an end and the off-season began, LeBron James was trending. Social media was buzzing over a statement he made regarding his career. Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar had said he was thinking about his future in the NBA after a Western Conference Finals exit in the playoffs. Most recently, he was seen in Puerto Rico with a St. Louis Cardinals legend days after shutting down retirement rumors.

James recently appeared at the 2023 ESPYS to accept an award and confirmed that he is not retiring in an epic monologue. The Lakers star was rubbished for an epitome of a silly storyline. But now he has made an appearance in Puerto Rico to watch some basketball.

LeBron James Joins Cardinals Legend Yadier Molina in Puerto Rico

The NBA off-season is in full swing and players are enjoying their time off the court. Some are working out whereas others are also working on their game. Most recently, LeBron James was spotted in Puerto Rico alongside Cardinals legend Yadier Molina. The two were spotted together attending the Final of the Puerto Rico Basketball League called the National Superior Basketball League or Baloncesto Superior Nacional.

Molina owns one of the teams that were in the Final, namely, Vaqueros de Bayamon. The League’s official Twitter account shared a video of them standing near each other in the stands before sitting down in their front-row seats.

In a Tweet, Baloncesto Superior Nacional said, “What’s good @KingJames 🔥 #LaLigaMásDuraDelCaribe”. It was massive to see James at the event as he came out to support Puerto Rican basketball. Furthermore, there seemed to be considerable fanfare over his and Molina’s being at the game.

Unfortunately, the presence of the two legends was not enough, as Molina’s team lost 89-85 after overtime. It was an incredibly close game with each team trading baskets. But for the Cardinals legend, it has been a new passion after retiring from baseball following the 2022 season.

Molina Retired a Legend

Yadier Molina retired following the 2022 MLB season. He played the entirety of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and even won 2 World Series titles with the team in 2006 and 2011. Furthermore, he amassed 10 All-Star appearances to go with 9 Golden Gloves and 4 Platinum Gloves. In his last few games, he broke the record for most starts as a battery alongside Adam Wainwright.

Molina and Wainwright also hold the MLB record for most wins as a battery. So although LeBron James is not ready to retire yet, the Cardinals’ legendary catcher has stepped away from the game with historic achievements.
