After Alex Rodriguez’s exploits, finally, Derek Jeter also stepped into the NBA territory. Though Jeter is not directly related to the game like his former teammate, he still has some connection. Recently a young talented basketball player sought his advice. Jeter is a renowned name in the MLB world and even beyond it. The 28-year-old basketball player proved this fact by approaching the MLB legend for leadership advice and guidance. While belonging to the two distant sports fields, the young athlete knows the value of Jeter’s advice in improving his career.

Leaders are acknowledged irrespective of their field. In the American Sports field, when it comes to leadership, who can be a better choice than the former Yankees Captain? Captain Clutch shared his personal experiences and iconic moments to teach Kyle Kuzma about leadership.

While young players getting advice from the elder ones seems to be a common thing, fans may wonder why Kuzma chose Jeter and not anyone from basketball. The answer is not very tricky, though. These two players are related previously. They know each other, apart from their professional lives. Both the athletes belonged to Michigan, and Kuzma has been following Jeter’s path for a long time. However, they met through a common business partner. Therefore, it is natural that he asks the great Yankees leader for his views when he needs advice on leadership.

According to Kuzma, he is fully prepared for his leadership role as he has observed, “seen a lot of different things in the short amount of time I’ve been in the league.” He has witnessed “rebuilds, retools, fighting for eighth seeds, fighting for titles.” However, after all this, the star basketball player claimed Jeter’s advice has helped him a lot. The Yankees legend has looked back to his iconic career as a captain to give the most straightforward yet the most valuable piece of advice.

The basketball player revealed, “Just be authentic, be real, lead by example. It’s simple.” That’s all the legendary MLB star said. He suggested the path he followed throughout his career. However, Kuzma even had life lessons from a renowned NBA player.

Kobe Bryant Told Kuzma to Stay “Calm

Though the 28-year-old star never really had the opportunity to play with Kobe Bryant, he even got some life lessons from him. Bryant died three years back, so it is unsure when The Wizards star actually got these messages from him. However, on Twitter, in a reply to a tweet, the young player shared lines that he claimed he got from Bryant. He expressed, “Life happens… storms come and go, you just stay calm.” These are indeed words with deep meaning, but he never mentioned when he got this advice.
