The Arizona Diamondbacks are receiving some city love. Evening out the score against the Philadelphia Phillies, the team nabbed a huge Game 4 NLCS victory. As the cherry on top, Chase Field was witness to Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker yesterday. At Game 5, he brought along some famous friends to root for the Grand Canyon State.

The Phillies and D-Backs are locked in an intense battle that keeps swaying in each team’s favor. Since neither is willing to give an inch to the other, it’s been one of the most thrilling games in recent seasons. Given Arizona’s history, it’s a major happening in the sports world, so it’s no surprise the NBA showered love. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well for the home team.

Being the star that he is in the Grand Canyon State, Devin Booker would have attracted attention anyway. But his get-up is what fans found most interesting, since he looked like a copy of an NBA legend. Channeling Shaquille O’Neal from the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Booker apparently decided to celebrate Halloween a little early. Donning a black hoodie, gold chain, and a black beanie to match, the Phoenix Suns star copied him down to a tee.

While their outfits matching was entertaining to see, the Suns player was even holding the now-vintage camcorder! The official D-Backs page hilariously asked the shooting guard for the recording on X, formerly Twitter.

Interestingly, Game 5 saw his star teammate join him at Chase Field. Although not in any special getup, Kevin Durant decided to show some love to the city he plays for. He’s also a huge Corbin Carroll fan and was spotted wearing the #7 jersey back in April.

It’s a huge game in the D-Backs’ franchise history, which is a relatively newer club compared to the rest. But having made it to the NLCS this year, and in a close game with the Phillies, is as exciting as baseball gets! Interestingly, the NBA wasn’t the only other sport supporting the D-Backs.

Michael Phelps Joins the Melee With Arizona Diamondbacks

The most decorated Olympian of all time was also a special Chase Field guest today. Originally from Maryland, Michael Phelps had to contend with the Baltimore Orioles’ postseason ending early in 2023. The O’s were fantastic to watch throughout the regular season but unfortunately collapsed in the playoffs.

The former competitive swimmer threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Game 5 and also has a connection to the Grand Canyon State. Having originally trained under Bob Bowman, Phelps came to honor the coach who is now at Arizona State University.

Also joining in on the fun was Arizona Diamondbacks legend Randy Johnson. But unfortunately, despite the star power for support, the team lost 6-1 to the Phillies. Game 6 will be crucial for each team trying to establish its dominance.
