Derek Jeter and Dale Jarrett are both stalwarts in their respective sports. In addition, Jarrett’s fondness towards the Yankees makes no wonder that they eventually met. Jeter and Jarrett’s friendship began long back in 2004. NEXTEL, the then-sponsor of NASCAR, organized a party for the sport’s top stars during banquet week in Manhattan. The event got hosted in the confines of New York City’s hot-and-happening club Marquee.?

Most of the NASCAR drivers had their private booths and tables that evening. Likewise, Jarrett had his own table as well. Interestingly, Jeter was in town to shoot a commercial, and Marquee happened to be one of his favorite hangout places. Upon visiting, Jeter realized that there was a big private party ongoing at the club.?

As Jarrett had plenty of room, he then requested Jeter to sit at his table. The two legendary sportspersons hung out for the night and exchanged contact numbers. Jarrett is reportedly a Yankees fan since he was five years old. They remained in touch over the years and Jarrett even participated in Jeter’s annual golf tournament.?
