As the LA Angels go ahead in the season, Mike Trout betrayed Captain Clutch Derek Jeter. Having played the game for over a decade now, Trout, on multiple occasions, has admitted Jeter is his childhood idol. But recently when the Angels slugger, knowingly or unknowingly, did not mention the New York Yankees legend’s name when naming his esteemed list of players in American Sports.

While putting names on the said list, Trout did mention golf legend Tiger Woods, His Airness Michael Jordan, and NFL icon Tom Brady. But while doing so, Trout left out his idol with whom he even played the game for a few years as an opponent.

Recently, Trout sat down with Mookie Betts for his podcast On Base with Mookie Betts. There, two of the best active players in the league talked about multiple things. Among those things was Betts asking Trout about his dream foursome in golf. However, Betts put a condition on his question that one of the members of Trout’s foursome is he himself.

Giving it a thought, Mike replied, “Me and three other people? I would say, me, obviously go with Tiger, MJ, Brady.” Trout’s inclusion of NFL legend Tom Brady had the Dodgers star in shock, asking, “Brady?” To which, Trout said, “Yeah, I love Brady man.”

To an extent, Trout’s answer can be understood, considering Woods is a golf legend. At the same time, Michael Jordan has played golf professionally and excelled at it, and is the same with ex-Buccaneers star Tom Brady. Jeter, on the other hand, has been playing golf after hanging up his cleats in 2014. He might not be as good as the others, but considering Trout considers him an idol, many would at least a mention of the former Yankee.

What else did Trout talk about?

During the interview, Mookie recalled Trout asking him, “Is this what playoffs feels like?” The said moment was from the World Baseball Classic when Trout led Team USA to the finals against Team Japan. It wasn’t the first time for Trout to be in playoffs. But it was indeed after a long time.

And now, things are changing for the LA Angels as they currently stand at the second position of their division. They are just behind the Texas Rangers, and if all goes right, they might make the playoffs for the first time after 2014.
