The 2023 WM Phoenix Open took place a few days ago, and fans were excited to see celebrities from all over the world compete. Notably, the former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez made an appearance. He’s an avid golfer and has taken well to the sport, especially after retiring from baseball. And what better opportunity to showcase his skills than at a PGA tournament?

In addition to A-Rod, other famous names were also in attendance. It certainly helped that the pro-am took place in the same week as the Super Bowl, both held in Phoenix. Gearing up for the big game day, Michael Phelps, Reggie Bush, Larry Fitzgerald, and Albert Pujols also made an appearance at the golf game. But a significant international name in golf was present as well, and he looked happy to be spending time with A-Rod.

Lee Kyoung-hoon calls Alex Rodriguez a legend

South Korean golfing sensation Lee Kyoung-hoon plays on the PGA Tour; so it was only natural for him to attend the WM Phoenix Open. The 31-year-old had a great time at the 2021 match, where he tied in second place with Xander Schauffele. He gracefully stepped up to the challenge this year too as he competed alongside Rodriguez. Taking to his Instagram, K.H. Lee shared a video of his wonderful day.

If Kyoung-hoon’s caption is anything to go by, the two had a fun time on the Arizona greens. While the South Korean player is a world-class golfer, A-Rod wasn’t to be left behind. He kept up with his partner as best as he could and clearly left Kyoung-hoon impressed.

Fans got to enjoy watching a rare pairing

Ever since the Yankees slugger retired, fans have missed watching him on the diamond. But even though Rodriguez may not be a pro anymore, he hasn’t given up sports entirely. The retired Yankee is seen at golf games from time to time. And at this year’s pro-am, he certainly supported the South Korean golfer by playing alongside him.

“It was amazing. He’s an amazing guy, super nice and people love him. Every hole, there are a lot of people with him. I’m a fan. It was really exciting. He’s super athletic, has power … got so much power which I like to see,” said Lee, as reported by Korea Joong-Ang Daily.
