Derek Jeter is loving his Jeep. The former New York Yankees captain inked a deal with the massive brand in 2022, revealing his automobile preferences. With his family of five, now six, the Grand Wagoneer was the perfect option. The Jeters, Derek and Hannah, are fond of the vehicle for the space it offers. To show off the collaboration, the Jeter family teamed up with Jeep for a new commercial, which has unfortunately failed to please.

The ‘Eyes Wide Open’ ad from October 2022 was iconic for many reasons and gave a new look to Derek and Hannah. It was also an introduction to their daughters, who featured in the next ad as well. But for the ongoing Ryder Cup viewers, the video is anything but heartwarming.

Times are tough for Team USA’s golf team. Playing at the Ryder Cup, day one ended in a humiliating fashion. With Europe dominating the game, the USA lost the two opening sessions. Unfortunately, day two didn’t go any better. The team’s 9 and 7 to  Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Abergeven, and Brooks Koepka brought World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler to tears. For live audiences, the day was made worse by Derek Jeter.

The retired slugger’s latest ad with Jeep from two weeks ago made a feature at the game. But in true irritating commercial fashion, it was shown again and again with multiple repetitions. The video shows Jeter trying to get home to his family as bad weather makes it impossible to catch a flight. At home, Hannah Jeter and the couple’s kids wait for Derek.

Meanwhile, the former athlete gets into his Grand Wagoneer L and drives all night to make it back home to his family. Throughout the video, various features of the vehicle are shown to a modern rendering of the classic soundtrack, ‘I Drove All Night.’ While the theme may be sweet, anyone would be annoyed to watch the same thing over and over again.

Golf Fans Have Had It With Jeep and Jeter

With many taking out their frustration on social media, fans expressed that they were just out there to watch some golf, not Derek Jeter. The fact of Team USA’s bitter defeat aside, the frustration of watching the same commercial over and over again spilled online.
