From NL Rookie of the Year in 2018 to an MLB All-Star and a Silver Slugger Award winner, Ronald Acuña Jr. is a fan favorite not just for the Atlanta Braves fans but for the entire MLB. The Venezuelan slugger almost always turns heads whenever he steps onto the field. A gifted player, his career in Major League Baseball has been memorable so far. After all, he became the youngest player to join the major leagues in 2018 at just 20 years old. And the outfielder seems set on achieving one milestone after the other as the Atlanta Braves head deeper into the 2023 season.

The Braves were up against the San Diego Padres and unfortunately for them, lost out 5-4. But Truist Park was still witness to some incredible plays, especially when it came to Acuña. In the fifth inning, the 25-year-old reached first base and then stole the second. While it’s common to see players stretch their bodies to reach a base in time, Acuña’s move went a little too far!

The Venezuelan outfielder plays hard. Friday’s game was a testament to that fact as Acuña slid into the second base… and uprooted it. Acuna Jr. knocked the base away from the ground and then tried to give it back. Fans were clearly entertained, both on the field and on Twitter.

Some fans pointed out the obvious – it was a literal steal!

Braves fans were all for this silliness and supported the Venezuelan player through it.

What an entertaining moment!

A lot of fans joked that it was Acuña’s base now and he would get to keep it. After all, it guaranteed complete safety! But in all seriousness, of course, officials had to be called to fix the bag in its correct place. MLB.com reported that a member of the park grounds had to be brought in.
