ARodCorp Founder Alex Rodriguez Reveals How a Billionaire Mentor’s Actions Taught Him a Valuable Business Lesson

Long years after bidding adieu to the ballpark, 14-time MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez remains among the most popular entities in North America. After retiring from the MLB, A-Rod shifted his entire focus to A-Rod Corp, and since then, A-Rod Corp, has invested both internal and external capital in over 30 companies and partnerships, collectively valued at more than $1 billion.

Most recently, the former New York Yankees star traveled back to New York and spoke with one of his mentors, Marc Lasry. A-Rod detailed about how Marc’s mentorship has helped him achieve new heights in his post-retirement career.

Alex Rodriguez opens up about A-Rod Corp’s evolution thanking mentor Marc Lasry

A-Rod’s ARod Corp shared a video on their Instagram handle of the ex-Yankee at SALT iConnections in New York alongside his mentor and billionaire Marc Lasry. In the video, A-Rod started off by heaping praises about Marc, and said, “One of the things that makes Marc very unique is he never makes you feel bad about yourself. Right? And it’s so easy to just say ‘Nope, that’s not what I do. We’re an institution. Nope. That’s not what I do. No! No! No!..'”

The 696-homer man continued to speak about how Lasry helped A-Rod Corp grow, and what advice people can take from him: “Marc always says, ‘Okay, I’m still listening. Open heart, open mind.’ And I think because of that he has more deal flow than anybody. But not only did he invest millions and millions dollars with ARod Corp, but he also helped us build the business. How to think about it in good times and bad times. Him being a debt guy, he’s always going to be risk averse, but he has tremendous ways to bring value on the equity side as well.”

Finally, he spoke about the importance of always being inquisitive, and said, “So I think, just from all of us, you don’t know where the best idea is going to come from. And the smartest people in the world are always the most thirsty for information, inquisitive, and willing to help. And that’s what Marc is.”
