During the Brewers vs. Diamondbacks game at American Family Field, one instance in particular was exceptional. Adames, known for his skyrocketing admiration for Derek Jeter, wore yellow and blue cleats with his idol on them. Was there a chance for the magic to happen? Seems like a ‘No’. The Brewers lost to the Diamondbacks getting swept in the NL Wild Card series.

The Brewers let the Diamondbacks win 5-2, after blowing a multi-run lead for the second straight night. Milwaukee became the second team in MLB history to lead by multiple runs at home, according to OptaSTATS. Especially in each final two games of the postseason series before losing both games by three or more runs. With that, though the Diamondbacks advanced to the NLDS, one cannot forget Adames’ delightful gesture. How intense is his hero-worship though?

Twenty-six days ago Adams ran toward the 49-year-old former Yankees star, to greet him as soon as he spotted him. Apart from the fact that Jeter was making his first Old-Timers’ Day appearance, Adames’ reaction won hearts. Isn’t baseball a kids’ game after all?
